Important update for members of UnitedHealthcare

As caregivers, nothing is more important to UT Health East Texas than ensuring communities across East Texas have access to the care they need from the caregivers they know and trust.

We are actively working in good faith to achieve a new agreement with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) that would ensure their members’ continued in-network access to our facilities and to our employed providers and that fairly reimburses UT Health East Texas for the high-quality healthcare we provide.

If we are unable to come to a new agreement with UHC before September 1, 2026, all UT Health East Texas facilities and our employed physicians and providers will be out-of-network. We understand this is concerning and have included additional information below.

What you need to know

Emergency services from UT Health East Texas facilities will not be impacted if we do not reach a new agreement. Patients who are pregnant or receiving active treatment can contact UnitedHealthcare to complete a continuity of care request to confirm eligibility for continued in-network coverage.

Like health systems around the country, we continue to experience extraordinary cost pressures around supplies and inflation. To continue delivering the high-quality care and services our community depends on, we are seeking a fair agreement from UHC which reflects these realities.

Patients are encouraged to contact UHC by calling 1-866-801-4409 or using the number on your insurance card, and ask them to work with UT Health East Texas to protect in-network access to trusted caregivers. If you’re concerned about your plan, consult your employer or insurance broker about options that include UT Health East Texas in-network.

A full list of in-network insurance plans is available at uthealtheasttexas.com/insurance. The health and wellbeing of East Texans is important to us, and we will continue to share more details.
