Dr. Kwaku is a very good doctor

As a retired PA I expected more. I don't believe the doctor has much real experience with my specific problem and so his approach was cookie cutter and he wasn't interested in teasing out my symptoms vs lab results.

Dr. Kauai always walks me to the clerk for checkout and gives the clerk when to schedule a follow up appointment and please send me to the laboratory for testing.

Dr Kwaku doesn't listen. He interrupts before I finish a sentence. My sense is that only what he says matters. He is not personable or friendly- very brusque; he seems irritated all the time.

Dr. Kwaku respected my use of herbal supplements to treat osteoporosis and when he saw the improvement from my Scan taken a year ago and the one I took last week, he said I was no longer diagnosed with osteoporosis, but osteopenia. Dr. Kwaku was able to clearly explain the benefits of prescription treatment for osteoporosis when the circumstances demand it to prevent limited movement. Dr. Kwaku is a tremendous source of knowledge about medical conditions and relishes the opportunity to educate the patient and provide detailed facts the patient may not have known. While I certainly prefer the herbal supplements I take, I have a much better understanding of why prescription medication is used in major cases of osteoporosis.

Arrived 3 hours before my appointment (my mistake)and the DR insisted they would fit me in early. He went over and above to see me early.

I never understand why after maybe ten minutes doctor starts gathering papers, stands and you know he is bringing the visit to an end. I may have other questions or concerns but time is up.

When I visited Dr. Kwaku in the past. I thought he was hard unpolite. Know after visiting other Dr. They were telling me what I wanted to hear not my well being. After returning, I see I should never have left. He was wanting me to be around longer than me so I could keep coming to see him. This is a dr. That cares and want you to keep coming. He even rolls you out or walk out to the check out just incase you have more questions. I will never leave this dr. AGAIN. I am here for life.

He explained his concerns and added new meds. Explained it to me so I could understand.

Some language difficulty

I have never had a physician like Dr. Kwaku who walks you to the check out area. Also, he clearly explained the answer to my questionseven when I was having difficulty understanding the next day and was having to communicate through my chart. This was my first time to see Dr.Kwaku. He didn't want to listen to anything I said. He gave me information that was not relevant to my condition. He lectured me about my condition and made me very upset. This has probably been the worst experience that I have ever had with a medical provider.

We have improved our communication and he shows compassion for all his patients.

The doctor is a little abrupt, but I continue to use him as he seems to actually care about my health. I actually had a woman ask me in the parking lot if I had seen Dr Kwaku. She then asked me what I thought about him, it was her first time seeing him. I explained I thought he was a little abrupt but I thought he did care about his patients. It was my 4th visit to him I believe. The woman said she found him to be abrupt also. It was her first time seeing him and her first appt for hypothyroidism. I told her I thought he would be a good doctor for her. She said she would keep using him since I recommended him. I've has Hashimoto's for over 40 yrs.
