Tyler, Texas (April 23, 2021) — The soothing sound of guitar strings greeted patients, visitors and staff at UT Health Tyler this week, part of a new Music and Medicine partnership between UT Health East Texas and The University of Texas at Tyler.

Pittsburg, Texas (April 16, 2021) — UT Health East Texas caregivers vaccinated nearly 200 Pilgrim’s employees against COVID-19 this week during a two-day vaccine clinic at the company’s truck shop on Texas Street.

Tyler, Texas (April 14, 2021) — UT Health East Texas Interim Market CEO Donald Baker offered his congratulations to Kevin Eltife on his reappointment to The University of Texas System Board of Regents by Gov. Greg Abbott.

A group of UT Health Tyler leaders and medical staff gathered at Lindsey Park in March to help plant the nine trees UT Health Tyler donated to the city of Tyler Parks and Recreation Department. The trees represent the nine beds being added as part of the hospital’s NICU construction.

Tyler, Texas (April 12, 2020) — UT Health Tyler donated nine trees to the city of Tyler Parks and Recreation Department this spring to commemorate the groundbreaking for the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

UT Health East Texas has administered more than 33,198 COVID-19 vaccines in the three months since the health system began giving vaccinations. More than 19,500 of those were first doses, with the remainder being second-dose vaccines, which occur three to four weeks after the first dose.

Minutes after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine at UT Health Jacksonville on Wednesday, Sharon Crowe discussed the impact of finally being able to get vaccinated.

“It’s a feeling of comfort, protection — to protect my mom. I haven’t gotten to see her since this started,” Crowe said through tears.

“I’ve been waiting to do this. Most of my family is in healthcare, so they’ve all been vaccinated and I feel it’s just important to get this done so we can get rid of this virus,” Crowe said.
