UT Health Tyler Honors volunteers, presents juniors with scholarships

Tyler, TX (April 18, 2018) UT Health Tyler honored its volunteers with a recognition luncheon at Willow Brook Country Club Wednesday, April 18, as part of national hospital volunteer week. With the theme of “Volunteers Make Each Day Brighter,” the event featured Moody Chisholm, president/CEO of UT Health East Texas as the keynote speaker.

“Volunteers are such an important part of our hospital system,” noted Chisholm. “They provide a tremendous contribution to our patients and we are so glad they give their time to assist others.”

UT Health Carthage selects new CEO

Carthage, TX (April 10, 2018) UT Health East Texas announced this week Mark Leitner has been appointed chief executive officer of UT Health Carthage (formerly ETMC Carthage). Leitner also will continue to serve as the CEO of UT Health Henderson.

Leitner will oversee the 42-bed hospital in Carthage, which has served the residents of Panola County since 1950. He has been with the Henderson hospital for 13 years as CEO.

UT Health Tyler Junior Volunteer summer program applications available

Tyler, TX (March 20, 2018) UT Health Tyler Volunteer Resources is accepting applications from high school students to earn community service hours and become a junior volunteer this summer.

This program provides an opportunity for high school students, who think they are interested in a health care career, to work in multiple hospital departments and feel and experience the hospital environment,” said Joyce Brown, director of volunteers, UT Health Tyler.

Tyler, TX (March 8, 2018) As ETMC prepared to transition to UT Health East Texas, the Bob L. Herd family bestowed a generous donation to the hospital’s Level 1 trauma center that helped save the life of their family member.
