Services at Behavioral Health Center to be moved, suspended

Tyler, Texas (April 3, 2020) — During this COVID-19 pandemic, UT Health East Texas is quickly changing the way we deliver care to support social distancing where possible.  UT Health East Texas is adhering to the Stay-Safe-At-Home initiative which has drastically reduced the number of patient visits, treatments and procedures. Consequently, UT Health East Texas will relocate the inpatient adult behavioral health program currently based at 4101 University Blvd, to our UT Health North Campus Tyler hospital effective April 13, 2020. 

UT Health East Texas launches telehealth services

Tyler, Texas (March 20, 2020) — To make accessing physicians easier, UT Health East Texas Physicians has launched telehealth. Telehealth appointments can be made by calling 903-596-DOCS.

  • Established patients may schedule FaceTime visits with their provider.
  • Telehealth visits also are available for new patients in need of care for an acute illness.
  • Established patients also may reach out to their provider via the patient portal.

UT Health Tyler offers breakthrough treatment to correct heart valve condition

Tyler, Texas (February 3, 2020) — The cardiology team at UT Health Tyler has successfully performed its first mitral valve repair using the innovative MitraClip® procedure — a minimally invasive treatment option for people with a severe leak in the mitral valve who are too high-risk for traditional open heart surgery. The condition, called mitral regurgitation, is the most common heart valve disease. UT Health Tyler is the first in Tyler to perform this procedure.

UT Health East Texas Long-Term Acute Care Nurse Receives DAISY Award

Tyler, Texas (January 7, 2020) — Mary Harwell, RN, with UT Health East Texas Long-Term Acute Care, recently was selected by UT Health East Texas as a DAISY Award winner.

"This award is for nurses who provide excellent patient care," LTAC chief nursing officer Laurie Lehnhof-Watts said. "While many people are excellent nurses, when someone takes the time to write about their experience – that’s special."

UT Health East Texas to Host Grand Opening of Mt. Pleasant Clinic

Mt. Pleasant, Texas (January 6, 2020) — UT Health East Texas Physicians will host a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new clinic in Mt. Pleasant at 10 a.m. Jan. 21, 2020. The clinic not only offers family medicine care, but also has an otolaryngology (ENT) clinic.

The grand opening event is free and open to the public and will offer an opportunity to tour the clinic. Light refreshments will be served.
