UT Health East Texas leaders recognized as rising stars on Becker’s Healthcare list

Tyler, Texas (October 25, 2019) - Becker's Healthcare recognized two UT Health East Texas leaders as rising stars in the industry. Tracy O'Daniel, division director of quality, risk and patient safety at UT Health East Texas, and Patrick Swindle, CEO of UT Health Quitman and UT Health Pittsburg, were among the 66 people named to the list of healthcare leaders under 40 years old.

Jacksonville, Texas (October 22, 2019) - UT Health Jacksonville is proud to partner with the Crisis Center of Anderson and Cherokee Counties as the latest stop for a mobile exhibit designed to bring awareness to domestic violence.

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Crisis Center of Anderson and Cherokee Counties constructed a display of 136 pairs of women's shoes, representing the number of women who died in Texas in 2017 as a result of domestic violence. UT Health Jacksonville CEO DeLeigh Haley, who is president of the crisis center board, even donated some of her own high heels to the cause.

UT Health Athens Adds Outpatient Infusion Therapy to Service Offerings

Athens, TX (October 9, 2019) - On Oct 14, UT Health Athens will expand its services to include outpatient IV infusion therapy, allowing patients to receive important treatment close to home. For those battling multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease and other conditions, this addition offers a more economical alternative to receiving treatment than on an inpatient basis.

UT Health Tyler awarded Comprehensive Stroke Certification

Tyler, Texas (September 27, 2019) — UT Health Tyler has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Stroke Association's Heart-Check mark for Comprehensive Stroke Certification.

UT Health Tyler underwent a rigorous, onsite review. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with related certification standards including interventional neuroradiologists, stroke/vascular neurologists, vascular neurosurgeons, neurocritical care specialists, physiatrists specialty trained in neuro/stroke, advanced practice providers, social workers, case managers, nurse care coordinators and therapists, including physical, occupational, speech-language and recreational. The Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. The reviewers also conducted onsite observations and interviews.

UT Health East Texas showcases Long-Term Acute Care

Tyler, Texas (July 24, 2019) — UT Health East Texas Long-Term Acute Care celebrated 25 years of service to the East Texas community with a reception and tours of the recently updated facility.

"This hospital’s mission began in 1994 and will continue into the future with renewed vision and resources," said Dr. David Johnson, medical director. "Through the concerted efforts of community physicians, UT Health nurses, allied health, pharmacy and administration, some 350 patients and families of East Texas are served in the post-acute care setting yearly by LTAC."

Today, UT Health East Texas LTAC continues to grow and is supported by more than 240 physicians and a 99-member staff. The 36-bed facility, located on the fourth and fifth floors of UT Health Tyler, serves patients who have experienced catastrophic illness, injury or have medically complex cases.
