Tyler, Texas (June 24, 2025) —  The region’s most critically ill patients now will have access to continuous, life-saving care with the addition of a new state-of-the-art critical care ambulance to the UT Health East Texas EMS fleet. The ambulance is specifically designed to safely transport neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patients and patients requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support.

Tyler, Texas (June 6, 2025) —  UT Health East Texas is excited to announce the addition of Vascular Tyler, a premier vascular surgery and vascular imaging practice serving East Texas, to its healthcare system. Now operating as the UT Health East Texas Vascular Clinic, this partnership reinforces our commitment to delivering exceptional vascular care across the region.

Patients will continue to receive the same trusted, high-quality care from the providers they know, with no changes to clinic locations, phone numbers or physician availability.

Athens, Texas (June 4, 2025) — The addition of 3D mammography at UT Health Athens and Cedar Creek Lake will improve access to technology that significantly increases the detection of breast cancers for women in Henderson County and surrounding communities. 

UT Health East recently hosted ribbon-cuttings at both locations, offering tours of the facilities.

For efforts to optimize stroke care and eliminate rural healthcare outcome disparities, UT Health Carthage has been designated as an Acute Stoke-Ready (Level IV) Stroke Support Center.

New grade for spring 2025 is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety  

Jacksonville, Texas (May 1, 2025) —  UT Health Jacksonville earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

Tyler, Texas (April 30, 2025) — UT Health East Texas EMS has once again been nationally recognized for its excellence in emergency medical services, earning its sixth consecutive three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS). This achievement places UT Health East Texas EMS among an elite group — roughly 180 ambulance services nationwide — to voluntarily meet and exceed the Commission’s rigorous standards.

Tyler, Texas (April 17, 2025) — UT Health East Texas is expanding access to healthcare with a state-of-the-art, more than 8,000-square-foot facility strategically positioned at Loop 323 and Earl Campbell Parkway in West Tyler. The new building, located across from Sam’s Club and adjacent to the new Chick-fil-A, will house an urgent care center, as well as pediatric and primary care clinics.
