Tyler, TX (May 30, 2018) ETMC EMS, now called UT Health East Texas EMS, has filed a motion to dismiss against the counterclaims filed by Champion EMS and Christus Trinity Mother Frances Health System in the suit concerning Champion’s repeated violation of a county ordinance and a breach of a contract among UT Health East Texas EMS and Smith County and the city of Tyler to be the area’s exclusive ambulance provider through 2040.

UT Health East Texas Air 1, with a 33-year-old history of safe flights, avoided a collision with a drone this week after dropping off a patient at a Dallas hospital.

“We had received information from the Love Field tower about other aircraft in the area and ten seconds later a drone appears in our flight path and I had to bank to the right to avoid a collision,” said UT Health East Texas Air 1 pilot Clint Burleson. Flight medic Charles Cooper and flight nurse Celie Pyle were also on board. Burleson has been flying helicopters for over 15 years including in the military.

Tyler, Texas (April 19, 2018) UT Health East Texas EMS, with a 50 year history of providing quality service to the communities of East Texas, rolled out its new ambulance design during a reveal celebration at EMS for its state-of-the-art units that transport over 100,000 patients each year.

Carthage, TX (April 10, 2018) UT Health East Texas announced this week Mark Leitner has been appointed chief executive officer of UT Health Carthage (formerly ETMC Carthage). Leitner also will continue to serve as the CEO of UT Health Henderson.

Leitner will oversee the 42-bed hospital in Carthage, which has served the residents of Panola County since 1950. He has been with the Henderson hospital for 13 years as CEO.

Tyler, TX (March 20, 2018) UT Health Tyler Volunteer Resources is accepting applications from high school students to earn community service hours and become a junior volunteer this summer.
