I wish the labs were done before seeing the doctor. We have nothing to talk about because the labs are not done until after the appointment. You go to "My Chart" to see the lab results after the appointment. In my opinion to late to have a doctor patient discussion. questions like I would like too on "My Chart

Compared to former physicians, Dr. Shastry schedules labs as often as practicable within the constraints of insurance coverage. I feel more confident knowing she bases her treatment on lab results to maneuver the labyrinth of type II diabetes and its quirks. When other physicians treated me without realistically frequent lab results, there was skepticism, a feeling like it was something of a crap shoot, a shot (no pun intended) in the dark.

Dr Shastry is very thorough. Answers all my questions and makes sure I understand the plan of care . Her nurse and office staff always kind and I'm seen quickly. I only wish she practiced in Tyler. It's quite far to drive to this location.

I've been a Type I diabetic for nearly 50 years and have been seeing Dr. Shastry at the UT Health Northeast/North Campus for several years now. She is an amazingly empathetic and professional caregiver & I am so grateful to be in her care. I've seen a wide variety in caregivers in all this time & she is an excellent exception to what's been the norm for me. I would highly recommend her to anyone with diabetes or another endocrine disease.

Dr. Shastry has been my endocrinologist for a long time now and we have a good relationship. She is a very knowledgeable physician and explains treatment in detail. Her treatment for my previously uncontrolled diabetes has controlled my A1C and controlled my blood sugar readings. She is always willing to answer questions and is forthright in answering them. Dr. Shasta and I discussed my recent testosterone and hematocrit levels. She advised that if hematocrit remained high, and testosterone remained on the high side, then we should temporarily discontinue the testosterone. Dr. Shasta is good at communicating concerns and options.

I have seen Dr Shastry for my Hypothyroid DX (previous Right Thyroid CA) for maybe 6 yrs now. She is very thorough & very knowledgeable. She answers any questions that I may have & explains in a way that is very understandable. I have a new DX of Hyperparathyroidism & she is now treating it along with newly DX of Type 2 Diabetes & Chronic Kidney Disease. I think she is wonderful because she truly cares for her patients, she wants to get to the root of the problem, not just diagnose the problem.
