Being a certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-C) in a small community has been Betsy Chappell’s plan for decades. After 18 years as a registered nurse, she returned to college for a Master of Science in nursing degree and FNP certification. Then she found the job she had hoped for at the UT Health East Texas Physicians clinic in Canton.
“I’m excited to be here and look forward to making this my long-term professional home,” said Chappell, who began working at the clinic in March. “It’s very family-oriented here and I put family first. I really enjoy treating people of all ages; I love the kids as well as the elderly population.”
Chappell believes that building relationships with her patients is beneficial for everyone. “I try to keep an open line of communication and provide education so that I can be of service.”
