I didnt have a choice in choosing my surgeon....I was told in the middle of the night in the ER that there were two ortho physicians and one was not available... therefore I was given to dr. butler.I had compound fracture of my left leg and came by ambulance to the ER I am a critical care nurse of 40 plus years... most of my training was at methodist hospital in houston... I was the rounding nurse for 12 cardiologist... I have seen how doctors treat and care for their patients..... unfortunately UT tyler does not meet the bar set by my physicians.....there is no follow up after visits... this was my fifth visit in five months..... until this visit ... no one took a bp,pulseox, or weight.... no one listened to my lungs or looked at my healing site..... I had issues with an odd fluttering swishing feel in my operative site... I went to see my doctor and saw his PA. an xray was done and it was declared that there was no issue.... this abnormality continues to this day....last visit xrays were done.. and dr.butler could not define the problem.. his advice was we would continue to monitor ever three months and if the problem persists...HE WOULD TAKE OUT THE METAL DEVICES IN A YEAR....He does not accept the rehab physical therapy reports and offer suggestions as to what to do since my home health is compleated for physical therapy.I am doing exercises provided by my previous PT person, I am watching utube for post op exercises for my condition... I have bought stretching bands to strengthen the muscles in my leg... since it sometimes has tendency to buckle, I walk 1000 steps a day on the road in front of my house....overall.... I simply feel Im a paycheck for UT tyler.will I use UT tyler again.. no sorry... i'll go to dallas or houston if I can to a baylor or methodist facility.Dont even get me started on the nurses in the rehab unit... who stole articles of clothing and a wig during my stay. the PT department at that facility was stellar... your nurses once they found out I was a nurse... simply ghosted me.... and talked a doctor into coming in to tell me I wasnt a nurse anymore and to just go along with the nurses... my fault was asking what my meds were and what my lab values were .Not a good picture.

My daughter was experiencing wrist pain, so we scheduled an appointment with Dr. Butler. He diagnosed her quickly, and his demeanor put us both at ease. The entire team was warm and friendly -- from the front desk person to the radiology tech to the nurse. Overall a 5-star experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Butler's practice.
