Paul Critelli, MD is a plastic surgeon who performs both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, body and hands.  Dr. Critelli completed eight years of surgical residency training and spent two years in private practice in Dallas before joining UT Health East Texas in Tyler in 2018, with his wife and two girls.

Serving the greater East Texas area, he is dedicated to deeply understanding and attaining the individual goals and concerns of his patients.  He believes communication is the key to a good doctor-patient relationship and encourages his patient’s to participate in their care.  “I enjoy cases that make an impact in the quality of my patient’s lives.  Whether it be returning a patient’s image after breast cancer or building a patient’s self-confidence with body contouring.”

He is interested in helping patients achieve their desired form, function and aesthetics.  “When most surgeons operate, they remove a diseased process, like cancer.  Plastic surgeons have the unique job of putting the puzzle back together as in facial and hand trauma, or they create and sculpt the body using tissue or implants, as is the case with breast reconstruction and body contouring.”

Dr. Critelli earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.  He completed his general surgery residency at Methodist Health System in Dallas and his Plastic Surgery Residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

In his free time Dr. Critelli enjoys spending time with family and watching his two, beautiful girls grow up.

Dr. Critelli is employed as a clinical faculty physician at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler under the UT Tyler School of Medicine.

After another surgeon removed a large tumor from my left breast, she had Dr. Critelli come in to give me symmetry so I got a lift and some reduction as well to achieve that. He did a great job and I am very happy with the results. The entire surgery and recovery was easier than I had anticipated as a 70 yr. old. I would recommend Dr. Critelli.

I cam in to get a lift and a breast reduction and that’s what exactly Dr. Critelli did, amazing service that I received, I am only 18 and have been to other places but this one was the best medical center I have been too, they patient and very kind, Dr. Critelli made sure I was comfortable. In the future if I need any other medical assistance I will be coming back! I would like to say thank you to the team.

Dr Critelli and his nurse Kourtney were absolutely amazing for both my surgeries. I would highly recommend him! His bed side manner was the absolute best and nurse Kourtney answered all my questions/concerns in the portal in a timely manner. I have nothing bad to say about either one of them! The only thing I had a problem with was UT billing department. They want to charge you even though you paid cash both times. I still haven’t gotten the problem fixed but nurse Kourtney is working with me on them.

My interactions with all staff and Dr. Critelli were amazing. From the first phone contact with the Nurse, Kourtnie, to the follow-ups with messages in the portal, she has been phenominal! I deal with anxiety and severe medical phobia. She talked to me when scheduling my appointment and I felt much more at ease. When I arrived, all the staff were great and Dr. Critelli was very informative, interactive and postive in answering all my questions, even when he didn't quite agree with a few of my thoughts. He was very positive and supportive in explaining why he thought some things might not work the way I thought which impressed me greatly. I don't want a doctor that will just agree with my every thought to just appease me. He did take what I said into consideration though and his responses were NOT condensending in any way. I have been very pleased with all of my interactions with this office and have a surgery coming up in a couple of weeks. I will not only be going back, I have referred Dr. Critella to many others already and I also highly recommend them to anyone reading reviews here!
