"My care philosophy focuses on treating both body and soul, addressing patients' fears, goals and beliefs with honesty. I empower patients through discussions on cancer treatments for informed decision-making," said Dr. Massarelli.
"Fascinated by biology since high school, I pursued medicine, specializing in molecular biology and genetics. In medical school, I found joy in patient care and interaction. In medical oncology, I integrate research with patient care, fostering enduring relationships and drawing inspiration from patients' resilience. I prioritize collaboration with patients and their oncologists, ensuring transparency, especially for clinical trial referrals.
"Specializing in lung, head and neck cancers, my research targets overcoming resistance to platinum-based therapies and boosting immune responses. Lung cancer, a rapidly evolving field, fascinates me for its immunological challenges and advancements."
Outside of work, Dr. Massarelli enjoys time with her family, going to her children's sports events, traveling and camping in their RV. In addition to English, she is fluent in Italian and knows basic Spanish.
