Jathan Cantu, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician at UT Health East Texas Physicians in Henderson that sees patients 18 years and older. “I believe I was called to the medical profession to serve a hurting world. My heart has always been oriented to help those in need. Medicine was the right intersection of passion, temperament, interest and opportunity.
Dr. Cantu believes that patient care is built on trust, respect and communication between the patient and physician. “The physician and patient work best as partners while navigating medical diagnosis, treatment, disease prevention and cost. A sound relationship promotes continuity of care and improves quality of care.
“I serve my patients best when practicing adult care, treating acute and chronic disease, mental health and promoting health prevention. I also enjoy doing minor office procedures.”
Dr. Cantu is employed as a clinical faculty physician at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler under the UT Tyler School of Medicine.

Dr Cantù seems to sincerely care and listen . He did not act rushed and seemed to ask a lot of questions to understand my problems, which is a good sign. He has a cheerful personality and it is a blessing to have a good doctor in our little town who is competent and caring .
Dr Cantù quickly ordered labs and called in a referral to a specialist that contacted me the same day . His staff seem professional and very polite . I am very grateful to have someone be able to provide quality care here in my town . So far, my medical care in Henderson has impressed me even though this is a small town. The providers have been attentive and competent and kind at the hospital and at the clinic . Thank God I do not have to fight traffic when I am sick to get help . What a blessing to Henderson Texas is Dr Cantù , the hospital and the UT system.

I would most definitely refer Mr. Cantu, he was patient with me. I will admire I was a bit skeptical and didn’t think that he would take out the time with me, but he surprised me and told me to be truthfully and he would help me with the issues I have going on. He’s a keeper
