About Purveshkumar Patel, MD

Dr. Purveshkumar Patel is an invasive cardiologist with the UT Health East Texas Heart & Vascular Institute. He believes listening with compassion is the first step to building a success patient/provider relationship. “I provide care to my patients with compassion and believe listening to them is key to managing their health. I was drawn to healthcare because it allows me to make a positive impact in people’s lives. There is nothing more rewarding than helping people feel better and live healthier lives,” said Dr. Patel.
“While I treat all aspects of general cardiology, I enjoy focusing on preventive care and managing chronic heart conditions. Communication and teamwork are central to my practice. I perform transesophageal echocardiograms, electrical cardioversions and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations.
“I chose to pursue cardiology because it requires quick thinking and decision-making while allowing me to build lasting relationships with patients through ongoing care.
“Outside of work I love spending time with my family and traveling with them. I also enjoy outdoor sports like tennis and soccer.”
In addition to English, Dr. Patel is fluent in Hindi and Gujarati.
