About Adrian Butler MD
Adrian Butler, MD, is a board certified orthopedic and hand surgeon at the UT Health East Texas Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Tyler. He specializes in the care of the hand and upper extremities including the shoulder, elbow and wrist. Dr. Butler also provides fracture care, joint replacement, ligament repair/reconstruction and care of complex injuries involving the hand and arm.
“My involvement into healthcare was a natural progression,” he said. “Growing up, I was always fascinated by science. I tried to learn as much as I could and always enjoyed working with my hands. When I injured my shoulder in middle school was when I first learned about orthopedic surgery. My high school was not far from the Indiana Hand Center, and I was fortunate enough as a high school student to spend some time there. Reflecting on this time, I believe this is where my affinity for hand surgery began.”
When not treating patients, he enjoys cycling, fishing, boating, golf, traveling and spending time with his family and dogs.

Dr Butler explained the findings and showed on the xrays to give a visual was great. He was nice, professional, and knowledgeable. His calming presence and confidence eased any anxiety I felt about treatment for my radial head fracture. He also explained expectations of surgery without me having to ask the questions, which is important for medical professionals to do since non-medical patients may not know the right questions to ask.

When my complaints didn't match with X-Ray or scan, he found it interesting and intriguing to solve for diagnosis and proceed with appropriate treatment, he ordered MRI, which was done in the same building. I appreciated being "worked-in," as I live an hour away.

Doctor was ill prepared and had to be told there was an MRI to view which he scanned for less than a minute. He may be capable for straightforward obvious repairs, but lacks attention to detail and any sort of capacity to delve deeper into more complex cases that require thought. Getting through as many patients as possible was the vibe.
