UT Health East Texas recognized for quality care and employee satisfaction

Quitman and Tyler, Texas (February 29, 2024) — UT Health East Texas announced today that two of its hospitals, UT Health Quitman and UT Health Tyler, have been recognized for outstanding quality and employee satisfaction by its parent company, Ardent Health Services.

UT Health Quitman was honored for its commitment to clinical excellence with Ardent’s Quality Award. Presented annually, the Quality Award recognizes outstanding performance across a range of clinical quality and patient safety measures, including infection rates, safety events and ratings from independent quality organizations.

“The UT Health Quitman team continues to be a leader in quality care and this award is a testament to the team’s efforts each day,” said Jared Smith, CEO of UT Health Quitman. “We are very proud to earn this award and are even more grateful for the team of providers, nurses and support staff who dedicate their talents to serving our community.”

UT Health Tyler also was recognized with the Best Employee Loyalty Award, which recognizes the facility with the highest team member satisfaction and engagement scores. UT Health Tyler exceeded its team member engagement goals while also leading the organization in recruitment and retention of nurses in 2023.

“Each day we set out to create a workplace that will attract the best healthcare professionals and medical providers who can provide the best care possible for East Texas,” said Zach Dietze, CEO of UT Health Tyler. “Our team is honored to earn this recognition, which is a testament to the culture our team members help build and sustain.”

UT Health Quitman and UT Health Tyler were selected from among other eligible entities within the Ardent system, which includes 30 hospitals and more than 200 sites of care across six states. UT Health East Texas is operated by Ardent Health Services through a joint venture with The University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center.
